Reliable Rider

The Club Service Agreement is focused on safety, cooperation, accountability, cancellations and financial arrangements. You will receive an email from the club manager announcing the date that the club will activate. You will need to respond to this email verifying that you want to activate your membership or that you don’t want to activate. If you activate your club membership you will set an appointment to have your home charging station installed. You will be invoiced for your home wall connector and electrician installation (non-refundable, preparation cost). Seven days later you will be invoiced for your share of the club vehicle cost and FSD (full self-driving) software subscription. Note: A prorated refund for the club vehicle cost and FSD subscription cost is provided upon membership cancellation or termination.

Safety

  • Always Verify the Club Vehicle: Verify the license plate, the Tesla make/model of the club vehicle before entering.
  • Only ride with people you know: You can ride with any other people you choose during your 4-hour reserved use of the club vehicle. For your safety you should only ride with people you know like family and friends. You can bring other people into your ride at your own risk and liability (See Release of Liability Waiver).
  • Members sit in the Driver’s Seat: Driver Members must sit in the driver’s seat, attentive, eyes on the road with hands on the wheel which is required or the vehicle won’t operate. There are 3 other passenger seats available. Everyone is accountable for always using their seatbelt.
  • If you experience an emergency situation call 911 directly. If you need assistance with the vehicle at any time call or text the Club Manager’s Mobile Phone (7 am to 11 pm)

Cooperation

  • Ride Share Clubs require cooperation and consideration to work efficiently and effectively for every member’s benefit.
  • Be Ready to go at your scheduled departure time. When the vehicle arrives, enter your destinations and stops along the way using voice commands, map interactions, Search Bar or Tesla Mobile App. Enter the beginning mileage into the Rider App. Identify the total miles needed for your 4-hr reservation. Be sure there are at least 20 more miles available on the vehicle than what is needed for your destinations and stops.
  • Return to your home address before the end of your 4-hr reservation. Enter the ending mileage into the Rider App when you get home.
  • Clean the vehicle of any objects (cups, bottles, waste etc.) or personal property at the end of your 4-hr reservation. The club manager will file a complaint and assess a special fee if you have left the vehicle in an unclean condition or if any vehicle damage is observed.
  • Deliver the vehicle to the next member’s address within 30 minutes after the end of your 4-hr reservation. A Robo Taxi or Waymo will meet you there to take you to your home address.

Club Rules and Policies

Violating these rules may result in the termination of your membership.

  • Passenger Limits: Do not attempt to “squeeze” extra passengers beyond the vehicle’s seatbelt capacity (4).
  • No Unaccompanied Minors: Passengers under 18 must be with a parent or a designated supervising adult. The supervisor is designated by the parent.
  • Car Seats: It is your responsibility to provide a legal child safety seat for any children under 8 years old and shorter than 4 feet 9 inches tall who ride with you.
  • If you need assistance getting into or out of the vehicle it is your responsibility to arrange for the appropriate assistance at each of your trip locations.
  • If you experience any problems during your vehicle use it is your responsibility to register a comment or complaint on the Rider App describing the problem. The club manager will review and respond to member problems or complaints.

Membership Cancellation or Termination

  • If you cancel your Club Membership or if your Club Membership is terminated for cause, your next month’s club membership fee will not be invoiced. You will also receive a pro-rated refund of your annual vehicle share and FSD subscription costs. You will receive this refund after the next person on the club’s waiting list’s membership is activated. Refunds will be sent via check or Zelle based on your preferences.

Motor Vehicle Records

Your motor vehicle record (5 year, certified history) is used by Reliable Rider, LLC to help qualify you for Club Membership.  Membership is open to all individuals regardless of race, gender, age (18+), or religion providing you have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. This means your motor vehicle report (MVR) doesn’t show any at-fault accidents, not more than one moving violation, and no serious driving-related criminal convictions (like a DUI) over a set period of time (five years). The Reliable Rider Club uses FSD (full self-driving) software, which requires the “supervision” of a licensed human driver at all times. Your MVD driver’s record will also be provided to insurance agents to analyze your driver’s history using traffic violations, at-fault accidents, and license suspensions to assess levels of risk. A clean record often earns lower insurance premiums.  At-fault accidents, signal higher risk and significantly increase premiums.  Tickets for speeding, reckless driving, or failing to obey traffic signals indicate risky behavior and usually lead to higher premiums. DUIs/DWIs are the most critical, often causing severe premium increases or policy non-renewals.  A history of revoked or suspended licenses indicates a higher risk.

Safety Suspension System (FSD)

Tesla mandates a strict safety policy. If the cabin camera detects inattentiveness (e.g., using handheld devices while FSD is engaged), or if the system disengages due to safety risks, you will receive “strikeouts.” Five strikeouts will result in a one-week suspension of FSD functionality for the vehicle.  Members can still use the club vehicle for your reserved 4-hour time blocks, but you will not have the FSD features or functions available.

Fines and/or Penalties

The Reliable Rider Club is not responsible for any fines or penalties you incur while using the club vehicle. It is your responsibility to comply with all local, state, and federal vehicle regulations and laws.

  • Violating FSD vehicle regulations can result in fines and/or penalties. Your club membership can be terminated for high-level traffic misdemeanors or serious regulatory violations. Here are a few examples:
  • Reckless Driving: Operating a vehicle with a willful disregard for the safety of persons or property. In many jurisdictions, this is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum fine of $1,000–$2,000 and up to six months (or more) in jail.
  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI/DWI): First-time or aggravated offenses often involve mandatory minimum fines (e.g., $600+) and can escalate to $2,000 with potential jail sentences of up to six months to a year.
  • Excessive Speeding (Construction/School Zones): While standard speeding is often an infraction, speeding significantly over the limit (e.g., 25+ mph over) in high-risk areas like construction zones can escalate to a misdemeanor with fines up to $1,000 and jail time.
  • Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License: Knowingly operating a vehicle when driving privileges have been taken away is a criminal offense frequently resulting in heavy fines and imprisonment.
  • Exhibition of Speed / Illegal Street Racing: Engaging in speed contests on public roads is often classified as a misdemeanor that meets the $300–$2,000 fine range and includes the possibility of jail time.
  • Hit and Run (Property Damage): Leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage is a misdemeanor that carries significant financial penalties and potential incarceration.

Club Financial Agreements

The $25 Membership Application Fee (non-refundable) can be paid via Zelle (a Free App), PayPal (using a credit card) or a check (mailed USPS).  Your application will be reviewed after your payment has been received.  Your club invoices will be sent to you via email. All invoices received from the Club can be paid using your preferred method.  The club does not keep your credit card information on file. Failure to pay invoices within 7 days of receipt can result in the termination of your club membership.

Fourteen days before the club activates you receive an email asking if you Want to Activate your Club Membership or if you Do Not Want to Activate.  If you activate your club membership you will schedule an appointment to have your home charging station installed, and you will receive your first club invoice.  This Invoice ($2500) is for the Wall Connector ($500) and the licensed electrician installation ($2000). This preparation cost is non-refundable. Every member’s home is also a re-fueling (re-charging) station. You will also need to be able to park the club vehicle overnight, either on your driveway or in your garage.
