Tesla’s New FSD V14.1.1 is a “Wow Factor” Upgrade

Tesla’s FSD V14.1.1 is tackling situations that previously required considerably more human intervention. The FSD software can now navigate from parking spot to parking spot, search for somewhere to park and even work its way through a fast food drive-thru. It can also recognize emergency vehicles, react to blocked roads and independently reroute instead of simply getting stuck. Tesla still describes FSD as requiring supervision, but the script argues that V14 is another significant step toward the company’s goal of fully autonomous driving.
Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised) Version 14 is a major generational leap in end-to-end neural network driving that brings advanced reinforcement learning, faster compiler reactions, and expanded HW3 “Lite” support. FSD 14 is taking a giant step in the direction of Unsupervised Driving or Fully Autonomous Driving. Tesla is the only company in the world that can make this happen. It has millions of cars on the road that are equipped with advanced computers that can collect all the necessary training data for the AI Super-Computer Models. When AI can do all the same things that a human can do while driving, it may be time for the regulators to accept that AI can drive a vehicle “without supervision” equally as well as a human.
Key Upgrades and Features of FSD V 14.1.1
• Behavioral Improvements: Offers smoother steering, fewer false slowdowns, more consistent lane centering, and better handling of traffic lights, vehicle cut-ins, and pedestrian interactions.
• Tap-and-Go Engagement: Removes the requirement to press the brake pedal to confirm self-driving activation from a parked or stopped state on both HW4 and newer HW3 Lite builds.
• HW3 “Lite” Rollout: Distills the core intelligence of newer AI4/HW4 systems down to legacy Hardware 3 compute units, bringing features like parking, reversing, and speed profiles to older vehicles.
• Expanded Controls and Grok Integration: Allows voice assistant Grok to execute chained commands (such as adjusting climate, seat heaters, and navigation in a single prompt) alongside updated arrival options and preferred routing.
• Tracking Data: You can review release tracking metrics on Not a Tesla App or read details regarding trials via Tesla Support.
Video Highlights FSD Version 14 Upgrades
• FSD functions as an AI Generalized Intelligence that can navigate the real world without any human input.
• FSD provides one 360 degree top-down view that functions as an “all seeing eye”.
• FSD recognizes where every other car on the road is and where it is heading.
• FSD also sees every road, every traffic light and every sign. Then the AI uses all of that information to navigate traffic.
• The FSD software has been gathering training information since October, 2020.
• FSD now has a built-in Grok AI Voice Assistant. So now you could hop in the car, ask Grok to recommend a new restaurant, then ask Grok to drive you there, and when the car arrives it drops you off at the restaurant door, and parks itself in the nearest parking spot.
• FSD can now react to emergency vehicles like an approaching ambulance and it will automatically pull over. It recognizes when the road is blocked by first responders. It will stop, turn around, and re-route to the best alternative.
• FSD can now navigate road construction situations, even ones where a human is managing a Slow or Stop traffic sign.
• FSD is very safety conscious around pedestrians and bicyclists.
• FSD will spot obstacles or animals in the road, spot a deer by the side of the road and navigate around them.
